And the best part? We’ll finish our topic with a special performance for families — written, directed and performed by the children themselves! It’s all about imagination, expression, and having fun while learning! |

Outdoor Learning
We love learning outdoors! Every other Friday, our learners take part in exciting outdoor activities that help them explore, create, and connect with nature.
Please make sure your child wears clothes that can get messy — we’ll be busy digging, painting, building and more! Also, remember to dress for the weather:
- Warm coats, hats and gloves in winter.
- Sun cream and sun hats in summer.
Let’s get stuck in and enjoy the great outdoors — rain or shine!
PE
- PE takes place every Monday afternoon.
Please ensure your child comes to school with the correct kit and suitable footwear for these activities.
For safety reasons:
- No jewellery should be worn
- Long hair must be tied back
Reading at Home
Reading is one of the most important skills your child will ever learn — and practise really does make progress!
We expect children to read for at least 10 minutes every day at home. This could be a school reading book, a magazine, a news article, a website — anything they enjoy! The key is to find something they love and read it together.
Please:
- Write a short comment in your child’s reading journal each time you listen to them read.
- Return reading folders every day so we can support and celebrate their progress.
- Confident readers can read independently, but remind them they still need to write a comment in their journal.
Each child has a set day to bring their reading book to school and read with an adult. If your child finishes their book before their reading day, they are more than welcome to bring it in earlier to be changed.
This system helps us give every child dedicated time to practise and enjoy reading.
Let’s work together to build a love of reading that lasts a lifetime!
Spellings
Spellings will be given out every Monday, and the spelling test will take place the following Monday.
Please support your child in practising their spellings at home throughout the week — a few minutes each day makes a big difference!
Digital Learning
We are extremely fortunate to have a Google Chromebook for every child in class, along with a number of iPads to support learning across the curriculum.
Each child has been given a Digital Passport containing their Hwb username and password, along with login details for a range of exciting online learning platforms such as TT Rockstars, Nessy, and more. Please keep this passport safe so your child can easily access these resources at home to support their learning. If your child’s passport has been misplaced, just let us know — we’ll be happy to provide another copy.
Healthy Snacks
Please ensure your child brings a named water bottle to school each day. There is fresh water available in the classroom.
Although all children are entitled to a school dinner, they are welcome to bring a packed lunch if they prefer. We are a healthy school, so please make sure lunchboxes include nutritious options as much as possible. Fizzy drinks are not allowed.
Children may also bring a healthy snack for break time — fruit, vegetables, or other low-sugar options are ideal.
Thank you for helping us promote healthy habits!
Labelling Belongings
Please make sure all of your child’s belongings are clearly labelled, including clothing, lunchboxes, water bottles, and bags. This helps us return lost items quickly and keeps our classroom running smoothly.
