The Gallery This term, we’re stepping into the colourful world of art and creativity! Our learners will discover how artists turn everyday natural objects into stunning works of art. With the help of Mildred the Gallery Cat, we’ll explore what really happens inside a gallery — and even create our own masterpieces right here in the classroom. It’s a journey of imagination, expression, and discovery — and we can’t wait to see what our young artists will create! |
Outdoor Learning
We love learning outdoors and therefore, we will be getting outside as much as possible. Please make sure you send in appropriate clothing every day e.g. hat, scarf and a warm coat. Please send in wellies with names on them to be stored in school.
Outdoor Learning Session in the Wooded area is on Tuesday.
Please make sure your child wears clothes that can get messy — we’ll be busy digging, painting, building and more! Also, remember to dress for the weather:
- Warm coats, hats and gloves in winter.
- Sun cream and sun hats in summer.
Let’s get stuck in and enjoy the great outdoors — rain or shine!
PE
- PE takes place every Friday.
Children should be dressed appropriately on these days and wear trainers.
Please ensure your child comes to school with the correct kit and suitable footwear for these activities.
For safety reasons:
- No jewellery should be worn
- Long hair must be tied back
The Power of Play in the Classroom
Play is a vital part of learning. In our classroom, play helps children explore ideas, solve problems, and express themselves in creative ways. Through play, children build confidence, develop social skills, and learn to work together. It encourages curiosity, imagination, and a love of learning — all while having fun!
Reading at Home
Reading is one of the most important skills your child will ever learn — and practise really does make progress!
We expect children to read for at least 10 minutes every day at home. This could be a school reading book, a magazine, a news article, a website — anything they enjoy! The key is to find something they love and read it together.
Please:
- Write a short comment in your child’s reading journal each time you listen to them read.
- Return reading folders every day so we can support and celebrate their progress.
- Confident readers can read independently, but remind them they still need to write a comment in their journal.
We ask that reading folders are brought to school every day so children can read regularly and we can keep track of their progress. Please make sure reading books are in school every Monday and Friday so they can be changed ready for the weekend. If your child finishes their book earlier in the week, they’re welcome to bring it in sooner to swap.
Let’s work together to build a love of reading that lasts a lifetime!
Digital Learning
Each child has been given a Digital Passport containing their Hwb username and password, along with login details for a range of exciting online learning platforms such as TT Rockstars, Nessy, and more.
Please keep this passport safe so your child can easily access these resources at home to support their learning.
If your child’s passport has been misplaced, just let us know — we’ll be happy to provide another copy.
Healthy Snacks
Please ensure your child brings a named water bottle to school each day. There is fresh water available in the classroom.
Although all children are entitled to a school dinner, they are welcome to bring a packed lunch if they prefer. We are a healthy school, so please make sure lunchboxes include nutritious options as much as possible. Fizzy drinks are not allowed.
Children may also bring a healthy snack for break time — fruit, vegetables, or other low-sugar options are ideal.
Thank you for helping us promote healthy habits!
Labelling Belongings
Please make sure all of your child’s belongings are clearly labelled, including clothing, lunchboxes, water bottles, and bags. This helps us return lost items quickly and keeps our classroom running smoothly.
