Spring Term Topic

Plants and Animals

Our new topic for this term is 'Plants and Animals', where we’ll explore different habitats and environments.

Our essential questions will be:

  • How are different plants and animals adapted to live in their environment?
  • What do plants and animals need to stay alive and grow?

  • What is the life cycle of a plant or an animal, and how do they change as they grow?

This term the children will

  • Write a report about an animal.
  • Complete a Science experiment based on growing and looking after plants.
  • Learn about the lifecycles of animals.

Outdoor learning

We will be getting outside as much as possible therefore please make sure you send in appropriate clothing every day e.g. a sun hat, sun cream or warm coat.

Please send in wellies with names on them to be stored in school.

Outdoor Learning Session in the Wooded area is on Monday.

Reading expectations

Children are expected to read at home every day. A reading record has been sent home for you to record your comments about your child's reading. Please return children's reading books on a Friday so they can be changed.

You can use the reading books supplied by the school or the e-books available on Oxford Owl.

Children should be dressed appropriately on these days and be wearing trainers.

In order for the children to make positive and healthy choices to look after their health and well being we will provide daily opportunities for the children to develop their physical literacy skills.
